6 ideas for date night at home

Are you looking to make date night a night to remember?

From a games night to recreating your favourite dishes, here are six ideas that’ll spark some magic and bring date night to your own front room.

1. HOME PICNIC FOR TWO

Sausage rolls? Check. Scotch eggs? Check. Crisp sandwiches? Check.

Pack some snacks into a basket, lay down a blanket and make yourself a cute picnic for two from the comfort of your living room – or garden if the sun is shining.

We recommend our good old banana bread recipe (of course) for post-picky-bits snacking. Found here!

2. BRING THE THEATRE TO YOU (VIRTUALLY)

Date night at the theatre is always a night to remember, and you can still get your couple's culture fix from your living room.

There are several theatres live-streaming shows that you can watch together, either for free or at a fraction of the price. Why not make a night of it and get dressed up for the occasion, too?

You can enjoy Soho Theatre performances and watch Fleabag by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, or performances from The National Theatre.

3. BRING CUISINES FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO YOU!

Take on the task of eating your way around the world by picking a different country each weekend and recreating national dishes to enjoy with your loved one.

For example, one weekend could be Portuguese night – you could create your favourite chicken dish (think Nando's), put on some Portuguese-style music and wear your best themed outfit.

You could even try to recreate the same cuisine you had on your very first date.

The way to our heart? Food!

4. COUPLE'S SPA DAY

It’s a classic but what’s more relaxing than some self-care and a couple’s spa day.

Make plans to de-stress and unwind together by lighting some candles (that’s a must), playing some relaxing music, running a bath and cracking open a bottle of bubbly!

5. GAMES NIGHT

Who said board games are just for Christmas? It’s time to dust off the games and unleash your competitive side, playing some good, old-fashioned board games in favour of the usual dinner and drinks.

Some of our personal favourites that'll have you and your loved one sat around the table for hours are Jenga, UNO, Scrabble and, of course, Monopoly.

6. VIRTUAL DOUBLE DATE

Bring the fun of a double date to you and meet up with your BFF and partner virtually.

Pull out all the stops with each couple following a chosen recipe and dressing up for the occasion. Meet (virtually) at an allotted time, sit down as a four, enjoy and have a night full of laughter.

We'll be posting more brilliant ideas for keeping entertained at home here and across our social channels, so stay tuned!
