We’ve all been there, we’ve all done it and we’ve all most certainly felt nervous. Meeting the family is always a nerve-wracking time in anyone’s life as it’s an occasion where first impressions really do seem to count.
Imagine if the family you were meeting for the first time were royalty?
Not only are you hoping to impress your partner’s family, but you do generally want to get on well with your loved one's relatives. After all, they could end up being your in-laws in years to come.
So imagine if the family you were meeting, were royalty?
That was the case for Prince Harry's girlfriend, actress Meghan Markle, who met Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte for the first time this month during a trip to Kensington Palace.
According to The Sun, the 35-year-old actress upped the ante when she presented the Duchess with a dream journal - as it was her birthday on January 9.
A source said Kate was ‘really looking forward’ to meeting the Suits actress, as she knew how ‘important’ it was to Prince Harry.
"They are very close and he really values her opinion on girlfriends,” the source continued. "Obviously Harry's mother, Princess Diana, died when he was very young so Kate really fulfils that older sister/maternal role.
"It went really well.”
It seems Prince Harry has already gained the blessing of Meghan's father, as the pair were introduced last year. According to the Daily Mail, the actress’s older brother said the meeting between the royal and 72-year-old Thomas Markle, took place during one of Harry’s visits to Toronto, Canada.
Thomas Markle Jnr told the Daily Mail: “My dad knew about (the relationship) from the start.
“He’s pretty happy about Harry and he’s extremely proud of her. They have an amazing relationship, they’re very close and they always have been.”
The pair, who confirmed they were dating earlier last year, have just recently returned from their first romantic holiday together after watching the Northern Lights together in Norway.
