How to have a fantastic gluten-free Christmas

There's no need for anyone with a gluten-free diet to miss out this Christmas!

From gluten-free puddings to trusty free-from gingerbread trees, nobody has to miss out or say 'no' to the mince pies this festive season. Here's how to have the best gluten-free Christmas ever.

The starter

Looking for a starter that everyone can get involved with? Try our responsibly-sourced Scottish salmon which is traditionally smoked in brick kilns and comes in four lovely flavours.

This includes our Extra Special Mild and Delicate Smoked Salmon, our Extra Special Rich & Intense Smoked Salmon, our Extra Special Whisky Smoked Salmon and our Extra Special Maple Smoked Salmon

Arrange nicely on a dish and serve with our crispy white sourdough cob (which is gluten and wheat free), a dollop of crème fraîche, lemon, and a sprig of dill to let the salmon shine. For soup lovers, try our tasty pea and leek soup which is free from gluten and dairy. Just add some crispy gluten-free bread on top for an elegant and restaurant-ready finish.

The main

When it comes to the main event, poultry is naturally free from gluten. So gathering all your friends and family around for a feast you can all eat shouldn't be too tricky. There really is nothing quite like the sight of a perfectly bronzed turkey surrounded by all the trimmings.

Our Extra Special Dry Hung Cornfed Bronze Turkey will most certainly be the star of the show.

For beef-lovers, try our tender, flavourful and slowly matured joint which will melt in your mouth when roasted. Or try our flavour-packed, and super Christmassy Extra Special Jewelled Lamb leg which has been stuffed with Chianti-infused, mulled wine spice butter. We also have a range of gammon joints and salmon showstoppers which require limited prep, so you can have maximum time with your guests.

The trimmings

From spuds, to carrots and Brussels sprouts too - vegetables are all naturally free from gluten. So just remember to cook them simply and use free from flour if you want to crisp up your roast potatoes.

Gravy is, as we all know, the magic ingredient that can transform a good roast into an incredible plate. Kallo's stock cubes are both gluten and lactose-free (you can choose either vegetarian or chicken). So all you need to do is add boiling water - plus the meat juices if you wish - and serve. If it needs thickening, stir in a little corn flour.

And there's no need to say 'no' to stuffing this year as this delicious citrus and herb creation can be made gluten-free by simply using gluten-free bread instead for your breadcrumbs. Easy.

We don't know why we only eat pigs in blankets at Christmas because they're one of the best bits of the whole meal. And there's no reason why coeliacs can get in on the action with our Extra Special Chipolata Sausages with Oak Smoked Bacon. And last but by no means least, you'll have people fighting over these gluten-free Yorkshire puds. Yum!

The dessert

Fantastic, indulgent sweet treats are one of the highlights at Christmas, but if you're gluten-intolerant it can sometimes feel like slim pickings. But with our Free From range, nobody has to miss out.

Get the kids involved in making and decorating these delicious gluten-free and dairy-free gingerbread tree biscuits.

Chocolate connoisseurs will love our vanilla, orange, strawberry and salted caramel flavoured chocolate truffles and everybody knows that mince pies and a Christmas pud are a festive staple. Rest assured that our gluten-versions don't compromise on flavour or taste!
