Who says the only way to decorate your pumpkin for Halloween is by carving a traditional Jack O’ Lantern? Some people have started decorating their pumpkin in new and original ways – from painting them, stencilling them and even wallpapering them to the latest crafting craze; creating pumpkin 'dioramas'.
It’s no surprise that everyone seems to be jumping on board the pumpkin diorama trend, and they're the perfect way for families to get crafty together!
Dioramas have been a popular craft for years in fairy gardens and terrariums, so it was really only a matter of time befpre they found their way into our homes in a new form.
Good news if you hate the mess that pumpkin carving brings (pumpkin gunk and seeds everywhere), as you’ll need a foam pumpkin from a craft store to create a diorama.
The best part is that you can put anything in these little vignettes — create your own haunted ‘house’ with ghosts and goblins, or create a pretty autumnal woodland forest with moss, pine cones, acorns and other treasures.
Like a small dolls house (or larger Polly Pocket), you can create miniature scenes. Perhaps a few lego pieces, dolls house accessories or other small toys could come in handy?
As you’ll need a fake pumpkin, it’s virtually mess-free, and easy enough that the whole family can get involved.
You could even add battery powered "candles" or fairy lights to light them up from the inside, or use glow sticks to give them an eery light. The kids will love using their creations as a fun night light this Halloween season!
The end result is pretty magical. Scroll on and get ready to be inspired by these creative pumpkin dioramas...
