Get ready to jump on your broomsticks again, as Warner Bros have just released the newest trailer for the upcoming Harry Potter spin off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The latest trailer has fans all sorts of excited. Why? Because it mentions a certain much-love Hogwart's professor. That's right - Albus Dumbledore!
Eddie Redmayne presented the trailer at the MTV Awards yesterday, telling the audience that he had enjoyed the 'most astounding time' making the movie, which will be the first part of a trilogy. Although not featuring Harry himself, as the film takes place in 1920s New York, the new trailer shows us more of our new wizard hero: zoologist Newt Scamander, played by Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything).
Most interestingly, it reveals that Newt moves to America after being expelled from Hogwarts for 'endangering student lives' with an unnamed fantastic beast. Ooh er. As fans of the book already know, Newt doesn't travel light and carries a suitcase full of weird and wonderful creatures with him at all times. Although a lot of the plot is still tightly underwraps, we do know that the film revolves around what happens when some of the creatures escape from Newt's suitcase, a couple of which we also get a glimpse of in the new trailer.
What's also getting Harry Potter fans excited is that the trailer offers us our first good look at Percival Graves, a shifty yet powerful wizard and auror (a dark wizard catcher) played by Colin Farrell. Percival hints that Dumbledore was a great admirer of Newt's and fought vehemently for him not to be expelled.
As Percival asks, 'I wonder what makes Albus Dumbledore so fond of you, Mr Scamander?', we can't help but wonder if this means we'll get to see a younger Dumbledore in the film. If so, what will he look like? Will he still have the beard? I guess we'll just have to wait for the film itself to find out.
As you can see, the final few seconds of the trailer show Scamander descend a staircase inside his suitcase while calling on his No-Maj (the US word for non-magic people) roommate played by actor Dan Fogler to follow him. We can't wait to descend that staircase with him on November 18th!
