It's been quite the dramatic year for the Great British Bake Off - and we're not referring to all those soggy bottoms!
Quite possibly the most relaxed contestant to ever set foot in the Bake Off tent, viewers instantly fell in love with Selasi's cheeky grin and fantastic creations
First it was announced that Bake Off was moving to Channel 4, then we learned that the dynamic duo Mel and Sue wouldn't be going with the show, and THEN we found out that neither would Mary Berry. As if all those technical challenges weren't leaving us at the edges of our seats already!
Viewers were delivered yet another blow in last week's semi-final when they had to say goodbye to sweet Selasi Gbormittah (sob!). Quite possibly the most relaxed contestant to ever set foot in the Bake Off tent, viewers instantly fell in love with his cheeky grin and fantastic creations. But sadly, Selasi failed to impress Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood in last week's episode with his French palmiers, Savarin or fondant fancies.
But get ready for some heartwarming good news - it turns out that Selasi is good friends with former contestant Val Stones!
Over the weekend, Selasi took his motorbike on a road trip to visit Val, all the way from London to Wells in Somerset.
Selasi captioned the photo, ‘From London to Somerset! Did someone say ROAD TRIP? Seeing my favourite pensioner in Wells. Definitely worth the ride @valcake.walks perfect excuse and weather to get on motorbike’
Val also shared an image on her Instagram page, with the addition of a family member. She captioned the photo, 'Had lunch with family and friends #friends #family'
But this isn't a new friendship - the two former contestants message each other quite frequently on social media. Val had these lovely words to say when her friend and fellow baker departured the show.
Posting on Twitter, Val wrote: ‘Dear Sels you were magnificent, such a gentle human being, I would be proud to have you as my son.

She also tweeted, ‘Sels , thank you for always carrying my baking bags. Thank you to all the bakers for carrying stuff for me.’
To which, Selasi replied, 'always a pleasure!'
@valstones my favourite pensioner haha! Always a pleasure — Selasi Gbormittah (@selasigb) October 20, 2016
Aren't they just the sweetest? Val and Selasi may not have won Bake Off, but they've certainly won the hearts of a nation!
Don't forget to catch the series finale of Great British Bake Off on Wednesday, 26 October (it's the final one with all four judges!). Only three bakers remain, but who will win top prize?
