Listen up, fans of Despicable Me, Minions and – The X Factor?! The new trailer for Illumination Entertainment's upcoming film 'Sing' has just landed – and it looks excellent.

The new story from the makers of Minions and Despicable Me is an animated musical that follows the story of Buster, a koala played by Matthew McConaughey, who owns a rundown theatre. In order to spike interest in his business, Buster comes up with a great new idea: to host a world record-breaking singing contest! Fool-proof. From a pig in a sparkly gold jumpsuit singing Lady Gaga to a punk-rock porcupine, get a sneak peek at the contestants in the trailer below...

Just like on our favourite Saturday night shows, The X-Factor and The Voice, each animal believes that this is their one shot to become a star and escape their regular lives, from a gangster gorilla to an over-worked mother.

We have to wait until December to see Sing, but with an amazing celebrity cast including Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson and Seth MacFarlane; plus a whopping 85 songs, we think it will be worth the wait. In the meantime, practise for your own X Factor-style audition with Asda's CD chart and follow the Sing Instagram for more bite-sized lyrical fun.

From the creators of Despicable Me, meet the cast of #SingMovie, in theaters December 2016.
