The BBC has just announced that they will be hosting a brand new cookery TV show on their channel, called The Big Family Cooking Challenge, due to hit our screens next summer.
The new show will see amateur families battle it out to become the nation's best home cooks. Each team will span the generations, and judges will visit their homes to whittle down teams through challenges involving everyday meals.
The BBC's Acting Head of Formats and Features Donna Clark commented: 'I'm thrilled to be taking food competitions in a different direction. A passion for food starts in the family kitchen and this format will take us into homes up and down the country, where we'll meet Britain's most passionate and exciting families of cooks.'
The show aims to be a feel-good show full of character and warmth with authentic home cooking at its heart. The announcement comes not long after losing The Great British Bake Off, one of the BBC’s most successful TV shows yet. Coincidence?
Perhaps Mary Berry, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins will once more come in handy, as they are rumoured to be cooking up a new show with the BBC...
But of course, we are merely speculating.
