You knew that having children would mean certain changes to your lifestyle - no more impromptu holidays or weekend lie-ins for example - but you had no idea exactly how much your life would change. From the way in which you get up in the mornings to what's inside your bag these days, being a parent means altering practically every part of your life. Those care-free, restful days before children may feel like a hazy dream (or you may just be so sleep deprived at the moment that it's hard to remember what you had for breakfast let alone what you did years ago!) so we've rounded up some silly gifs to remind you what your life was like pre children and post children.
There's no doubt that being a parent is one of the toughest jobs on earth but no matter how much easier life may have seemed before you had children, you wouldn't change what you have now for a thing (although being able to go to the bathroom on your own certainly would be nice...). How many of the following situations can you relate to?
Saturday mornings before kids
'Ah, what a lovely slumber! What time is it? Noon? Perhaps I'll just snooze for a little bit longer...'
Saturday mornings after kids
'Right, I've been up since 6am but that's alright, the baby is finally down for her mid-morning nap. Ouch! What's that poking me in the eye? Oh...'
Getting dressed before kids
'Oh dear, I only have one hour to get ready so I guess I'll have to skip curling my hair today...'
Getting dressed after kids
'Argh, nothing fits and why do all my clothes have stains on them? And what ARE these stains, anyway?'
'Me time' before kids
Some music, a bubble bath and a nice glass of wine, followed by a few hours of catching up on your favourite television programme...
'Me time' after kids
You battle it out with your partner over who gets to go to the grocery shop this time - anything for a precious thirty minutes to yourself!
What's in your purse before kids
'This stylish little clutch is perfect for storing my wallet, keys, phone and lipstick. Let's go!'
What's in your purse after kids
'Tissues, baby wipes, snacks, nappies, batteries, toys, sun lotion, books, bottle, water, pillow, blanket, extra clothing, juice box, hand sanitiser, more snacks... have I forgotten anything?'
Date night before kids
'Dinner at the hottest new restaurant in town? Lovely!'
Date night after kids
'What date night?'
Going on holiday before kids
'Sun? Check. Swimming pool? Check. Now where's that cocktail...'
Going on holiday after kids
'You want to go on the ride again? Darling, I really think that 15 times is enough for one day. Oh, alright...'
Weekends before kids
Weekends are for having as many people round as possible with as much food, drink and music as possible.
Weekends after kids
You still go to parties almost every weekend. They're just children's parties now.
Driving before kids
Some good tunes and you're off!
Driving after kids
If you're not driving your kids around town, then you're just driving them around the garden.
