There was a new case, new suspects and, inevitably, a new victim as ITV's 'whodunnit' drama, Broadchurch, returned to our screens last night.
Why does it seem like she is protecting someone?
Season three of the epic drama, which is the last in the series, got underway and within just 10 minutes it had viewers on the edge of their seats.
Our favourtie detectives DI Alec Hardy, played by David Tennant, and DS Ellie Miller, played by Olivia Colman, team up once more this time to investigate a serious sexual assault in the Dorset community.
In the first half of the dark drama we're introduced to victim Trish Winterman, (played by the amazing Julie Hesmondhalgh, who you may remember as Hayley from Corrie) who has been assaulted by an 'unknown attacker'.
#broadchurch is so wonderfully crafted. How can a setting so breathtakingly beautiful be used for something so utterly dark. Gripping TV — Craig Priest (@craigpriest14) February 27, 2017
Julie portrays her character brilliantly as she has to tell police about her horrific ordeal.
But the lack of evidence suggests there is more to the story than meets the eye.
Like, why does it seem like she is protecting someone? And why can’t she remember what happened between Saturday night and Monday night?
The second half flagged new faces and new suspects, including the likes of grumpy small farm shop manager Ed Burnett, played by Lenny Henry.
We were also introduced to Trish’s estranged husband, who previously upped and left her for another woman.
And Trish's best friend’s husband, Jim Atwood (Mark Bazeley), is the third suspect.
But for now, while our theories pan out it looks like we’ll have to wait a whole week until we can watch another episode.
In the meantime why not catch up on season two of Broadchurch here.
