The wait is finally over. After months of speculation, stress and Internet theories, the Game of Thrones creators have answered our prayers. That’s right, the Game of Thrones Season 6 trailer has officially landed – and it's everything we could have hoped for.
There was nothing quite like the collective sense of frustration Game of Thrones fans experienced after the season five finale, when a certain favourite appeared to pop his clogs – and you probably have many questions about what happens next. And while the first proper look at the sixth season may not reveal all, it does offer some helpful titbits to keep us going until the new episodes air:
A-mazing. So what can we actually glean from the trailer? (Spoiler alert)
Jon Snow is dead. But (probably) won't be for long.
HBO would love you to believe that’s Jon Snow is dead and gone. However, the trailer seems to suggest otherwise. Davos is protecting Snow’s body from being burned and Melisandre (or 'The Red Woman'), the only person who could raise him from the dead, can be seen hovering over the scene, which suggests this isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of Jon Snow.
Ned Stark is back. Well, sort of.
Sean Bean fans rejoice – the trailer finally confirms that the actor is reprising his role as Ned Stark this season. Alright, he’s not coming actually back from the dead, but he is appearing in a major flashback scene, which fans speculate will reveal Jon Snow's true parentage. Ooh er.
Of course, despite all the pensive stares, battles and screaming, there are no certainties and we'll just have to wait for the first episode to see for sure. But with no book from George R. R. Martin to guide us, anything could happen in the new series. And that’s exciting for all fans, book fanatic or not.
