Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by JK Rowling won't be released until Sunday, 31st July, but the latest instalment in the wizarding world franchise is already sending fans into a frenzy. In fact, American booksellers have revealed that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the most pre-ordered book since the last Harry Potter Book, Deathly Hallows, which came out in 2007.
Potter fans won't be surprised that the book, which is based on the script of the new London theatre show with the same name, is taking the world by storm. The play is – of course – also receiving rave reviews, with most critics who have been lucky enough to receive a sneak peak of the show rewarding it a perfect five-star rating. The world-premiere of the two-part production opens in London's West End the day before it is published as a script book.
The contents of the book and the play have been kept super secret (psst... here are some clues), but that hasn't stopped eager readers from plotting how to get their hands on a copy as soon as possible. Many fans have vowed to camp out at midnight in order to purchase the eighth instalment of the Harry Potter adventure!
But what is the much-hyped book about? Details are scarce but what we DO know is that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child picks up just 19 years after the end of the Deathly Hallows. Harry is now a father of three, working for the Ministry of Magic and is about to send his youngest son, Albus Severus Potter, off to Hogwarts for the first time. As Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, Albus struggles with a family legacy he never wanted. Intrigued? We know we are!
