Just as the nation was mourning the loss of the Great British Bake Off as we know it (it will be moving over to Channel 4 next year, sans Mary, Mel and Sue), we get delivered some cracking good news. There is going to be not one, but two (!) Bake Off Christmas specials coming to the BBC this holiday season.
Sharing the news on Twitter (with a hilarious image of the judges and presenters in festive garb), the creators of the hit show revealed:"Deck the tent with bakes of holly! Paul, Mary, Mel, and Sue will return to BBC One for two special new episodes of GBBO this Christmas."
To be fair, this isn't exactly news - the Bake Off Christmas specials were actually already rumoured to be happening back in July. However in all the Bake Off drama over the last couple of weeks, it was easy to forget that this week's brilliant episode wasn't the last of the soggy bottoms.
Knowing that there's more Paul, Mary, Mel and Sue to look forward to and more fantastic creations coming our way truely is a Christmas wish come true. However, there's no news yet regarding what the holiday specials will entail or when exactly they will air.
Will it with a Bake Off with former contestants? Will there be a Christmas pudding technical challenge? Is the Twitter post a sneak peek on what we can expect the judges and presenters to be wearing? We can't wait to find out!
