Championing older parents everywhere, TV Chef Jamie Oliver, 40 and wife Jools, 41 announced that they are expecting their fifth baby this year while attending the premiere for the Eddie The Eagle movie last night. The couple happily showed off Jool's baby bump and talked candidly about the next addition to the Oliver clan.
Although the pregnancy wasn't expected, both parents say they're looking forward to the arrival of their fifth bundle of joy. Jamie told the Telegraph newspaper that he's 'really pleased' to be expanding his family. When asked whether he is hoping for a boy or a girl, Jamie quipped to the Daily Mirror: "You know what, I’m always grateful for what I get, it would be nice to balance it out a bit," adding: "A bit more testosterone would probably be a good thing."
Jamie and Jools have been married for 16 years, and are already parents to Poppy Honey, 14, Daisy Boo, 12, Petal Blossom, six and Buddy Bear, five. Will this be the last baby for their little gang? As Jamie told the Metro newspaper: "I think so yeah, I mean it’s just getting ridiculous otherwise. This was not expected, I can’t even believe I’m saying it. I think my own family were like 'really?'" He went on to say" "I thought we'd have a couple of kids but that's about it."
With the success of his recent campaign for a sugar tax being confirmed by the government earlier this week, Jamie says that next on his agenda is to encourage more women to breastfeed. He told London radio station LBC: "We have the worst breastfeeding in the world. If you breastfeed for more than six months, women are 50 per cent less likely to get breast cancer. When do you ever hear that? Never. It's easy, it's more convenient, it's more nutritious, it's better, it's free."
We wish the happy family the best of luck with their arrival later in the year!
