Drum roll please... J.K. Rowling is releasing a new Harry Potter book this year! Yes you did read that right – there'll soon be a magical new Harry Potter story for us all to enjoy.
Set to be the eighth official book in the saga, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a script version of the stage play (also called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), due to hit the West End this summer. It will be released the day after the play debuts, on 31st July, which means any Potterheads who didn't manage to bag tickets can still enjoy the story! The book will be available in three exclusive versions, the Special Rehearsal Edition, a Definitive Collector’s Edition (to be released at a later date) and on eBook.
So what can we expect from the story itself? Rowling's publishers are staying tight lipped, but what we do know is that it will focus on Harry as an adult and will take off from where we last saw him in the epilogue of the The Deathly Hallows. Harry now works for the Ministry of Magic, grappling with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, while his youngest son Albus struggles with a family legacy he never wanted.
What a magical year ahead! Here's to hoping there'll be an official midnight launch, so we can dress the kids up in these Harry Potter costumes from George.
