Our first look at Sherlock Series Four has arrived

Calling all Sherlock fans! Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have slipped back into character to bring us all the first sneak peek of BBC One’s Sherlock series four.

Naturally, Sherlock devotees are already on the lookout for clues.

Though the detective series isn’t due to hit our screens until New Year’s Day, the leading pair have joined forces for the first promo picture to be released ahead of the new episodes.

Naturally, Sherlock devotees are already on the lookout for clues.

Though there’s not much to go on yet, unless of course, you too have the skills of the Great Detective, the pair are looking sharp with Sherlock trading in his signature overcoat for a slick shirt and blazer. We’re eyeing up Dr Watson’s plaid button-down too.

They’re also looking suitably tense, as series four promises to be a rollercoaster ride filled with drama, suspense and edge-of-your-seat action.

Earlier this year the BBC released a teaser trailer at Comic-Con, which not only introduced actor Toby Jones as a new villain, but also suggested that Moriarty may return. Cripes!

In the clip, we see Watson looking rather strung-out and Sherlock more stubbly than ever, while the trailer also lets us know that ‘everyone they know is under threat’. Sherlock’s brother Mycroft also appears to be caught in a war of words with Mrs Hudson, who tells him: “Get out of my house…you reptile.”

We told you it was all very tense.
