Breaking news from a galaxy far far away: the first official Star Wars Rogue One trailer has arrived - and it looks out of this world!
Watch it here:
The new film tells the story of a band of rebels as they attempt to steal the plans to the planet-destroying Death Star in the hope of destroying it. The first of three planned standalone spin-off films, Rogue One is set before set before the events of 1977's Star Wars: A New Hope, but after Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Keeping up?
Here's a helpful guide to the order of the Star Wars films, for those who aren't sure:
When discussing the film last year, director Gareth Edwards told Flicks and the City, “It comes down to a group of people who don’t have magical powers who band together to bring hope to the galaxy... It’s exciting because we’re not held to anything and we can be a bit more free, more brave.”
Fans are already speculating that Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) bears a striking resemblance to another new character introduced in J.J. Abram’s The Force Awakens... Could Erso be Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) mother? The film also stars Mads Mikkelsen (Le Chiffre in Casion Royale), Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed (Night Crawler). Rogue One will be released released on December 16th. Rogue One is only one of many films planned within the Star Wars universe outside of the main franchise, with other announced films including prequels following Han Solo and Boba Fett. Isn't it a great time to be a Star Wars fan?
Although we've still got a while to wait for the next part in the adventure, make sure you pick up your copy of JJ Abrams's The Force Awakens, which will be released in Asda on April 18th.
