Still mourning the loss of the Great British Bake Off as we know it? Well, here’s some news that is sure to bring joy to GBBO and pet fans alike. Get ready, because a Bake Off-inspired dog show is in the works!
It’s a competition show that will have a similar style to Bake Off, only with dogs.
But before you get excited about the possibility of a chihuahua making churros or a group of Dachshunds attempting doughnuts, the new show actually has nothing to do with baking. Instead, the BBC show You and Your Dog will see amateur dog trainers compete against each other as they attempt to get their dogs to do as they’re told.
Springwatch’s Chris Packham, who is set to present You and Your Dog, revealed to Yahoo: "It’s a competition show that will have a similar style to Bake Off, only with dogs.
"We have people come in and bring their pet dogs. And they’re all competing. We set them challenges to achieve, so they had to train their dogs to do certain things as well as train themselves."
Sounds like a recipe for brilliant entertainment! But the show could also be useful for pet owners, as Chris says that it "has a bit of science to it as well because some of the challenges are about how someone can train their dog. We’ll take the viewer through that process."
While the transmission date for the new show has yet to be confirmed, it could be coming to your TV screen soon as it apparently has already finished filming.
"It was an emotional rollercoaster to say the least," said Chris, speaking the filming process. "I really enjoyed it."
We predict a paw-fect programme, fur sure (sorry)! But until You and Your Dog comes to your telly, you can still get your Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood fix with a Bake Off Christmas special or by whipping up some delicious baked treats.
