How to throw a birthday party you’ll remember forever!

If you've got family or friends who have a birthday that falls during the summer, you'll no doubt want to throw them a birthday party to remember. In need of a little inspiration? We've pulled together our insider tips on planning a get-together that'll go with a bang. So put on those party hats, get out the bunting and cut the cake, because we've got the best party food to help you throw a fab feast!

You can’t have a birthday without fizz and top of our list of must-haves for today is a bottle of Pierre Darcys Champagne Brut which comes in at just £9!  Pale gold with aromas of lemon and apple, these French bubbles are a perfect way to start the party and work well with fish and smoked salmon (in case you’re thinking of what nibbles to serve before dinner).  All the more reason to invite as many people as possible to the celebrations!

Smash cake

Asda's Smash Cake is the perfect birthday cake and is available in both vanilla and chocolate.  It consists of madeira sponge with frosting layers, while the sides are covered in sugar spheres and topped with a chocolate dome that contains mixed sweets – talk about a sugar high! 'Smash' open the dome top to reveal the sweets beneath...

Strawberry cream scones

This is a British party after all, so where would we be without a cream scone or two?  The ASDA Baker’s Selection Strawberry Cream Scones are free from artificial colouring and flavouring and are loaded with strawberry compote and whipped cream. Just the way they should be.

Speaking of tradition, you really can’t have champagne and scones without a few fresh strawberries thrown in, can you?

Coronation chicken

You can’t have a birthday party with a British twist without serving up coronation chicken.  It features mango chutney, dried apricots and sultanas in a curry mayonnaise… all you need now is some crusty bread and a salad to go with it!

Bells and whistles

With all the food prepared, presentation is everything.  Let’s hope for sunshine so we can get out the picnic tables and throw on a gingham tablecloth (because this is a fancy occasion you see).  It’s a time for proper plates and a few nibble platters to pass around –  but it doesn’t have to break the bank thankfully, with plates starting at £1 from Asda.
