Chocolate cheese is the new food pairing no one knew they needed

It seems that us Brits love a perfect food pairing. From fish and chip suppers, to sausage and mash dinners and strawberries and cream for dessert.

There’s also steak and kidney pie, rhubarb and custard and let’s not forget cheese and crackers for that ultimate late night snack.

On their own they may be great, but as a pair they can be fantastic.

And now there’s a new pairing to get excited about. Thanks to Melbourne-based dairy specialist Curds & Whey, Choco 21 is a new product that combines blue cheese with chocolate.

Each wheel of the mild and delicate blue cheese is ripened with Choco 21 Liqueur, rubbed with cocoa and decorated with chocolate chips.

Owner of Curds & Whey, Anna Burley, told Mashable: "The blue itself is quite mild, and the liqueur adds the chocolate flavour without being sweet.

"The customer reaction to the product had been very positive before the post went viral, we had been expecting it to be popular but were surprised at just how much of a conversation starter it has proved to be."

Although this may see like an unusual pairing, according to the shop’s Instagram account, it seems to be going down a treat and the product is already sold out.

However, don’t fret chocolate and cheese lovers, as the shop has announced there will be more of Choco 21 in the world soon with more of the product in stock ‘in the next few weeks’.
Will you be getting your fix of the chocolate cheese?
