The latest coffee trend involves a surprisingly sweet and crunchy topping

Step aside pumpkin spice latte and move over mocha, there's a new coffee concoction in town.

Want to shake up your morning cup of Joe? The newest caffeine creation that the internet is going wild for is coffee topped with meringue. Not to be confused with meringue-flavoured coffee, this new trend is about enjoying a large meringue (or many meringues stuck together) that sits on top of regular coffee.

The meringue coffee craze started at the Takeout Drawing cafe in Seoul, who started serving a drink called Paul's Meringue Factory.

The hot drink has quickly gained many fans and been popping up all over the internet.

Doesn't it look delicious? Because the meringues don't melt, you can pick them up and dunk them in the coffee. Yum!

Whatever will they think of next? Coffee with a macaron topping, perhaps? Actually, that's not a bad idea...

We reckon you could easily make this coffee topped with meringue creation at home. All you need is some coffee, some meringues and your phone so that you can Instagram the results of course!
