While we're all for spending the summer holidays outside on days out, camping trips and excursions, it's important to have fun indoor activities between all the excitement to keep kids engaged.
And what with Bake Off hysteria hurtling towards maximum, baking makes a brilliant inside activity for kids - always with the promise of a rewarding treat at the end!
From novelty buns to prank-tastic cupcakes, check out our favourite kids' bakes below.
Baking with yeast is exciting if you've never done it before - especially if you're making these adorable hedgehog buns!
Rubbing the butter into the flour, kneading the dough, making the faces and brushing the finished buns with the glaze are all great jobs for little hands. Older children can help with making the 'spines' using a pair of scissors, too.
Carrot cake cupcakes
The fruity muffins topped with tangy yogurt icing are a delicious way of sneaking fruit and veg into kids' diets. What's more, getting kids to help out when cooking with fruits and vegetables is a brilliant way of introducing fresh produce, meaning they're more likely to try it again in the future.
Poo emoji biscuit bites
These cute, cartoony treats made with chocolate and homemade shortbread are shaped like everyone's favourite emoji - the smiling poo! There are many child-friendly jobs here: from cutting out the biscuit bases to soaking the gelatine and making the fondant icing facial features.
Yogurt raspberry bark
Perfect for young kids with an artistic streak, this no-bake creation makes a brilliant cool-down summer snack.
Simply line a baking tray with baking paper and let the kids loose with swirling together the jam, yogurt and toppings. Once their masterpiece is complete, stash it in the freezer until solid and break apart into chunks. Delicious!
Blueberry doughnut muffins
While fresh, fluffy doughnuts aren't usually the most kid-friendly of home bakes, what with being deep-fried, these fun-sized doughnuts are baked in a muffin tray, meaning no need for a spluttering vat of oil! They also contain no added sugar, getting their sweetness from juicy blueberries instead. Delicious!
Cottage pie cupcakes
These cupcakes with pretty piped frosting may look like a sweet treat, but peel back the paper to reveal a miniature cottage pie lurking underneath all that mashed potato disguised as buttercream!
Serve these cheeky "cakes" for dinner, and watch the rest of the family's surprise as they realise that everything is not quite as it seems…
