Top 10 summer drinks to try now

With summer comes the usual stream of weddings, barbecues and picnics - so more than enough excuses to crack open a bottle of fizz. Whether you're craving a refreshing smoothie or a glass of something stronger, we have all the recipes you need. Chin chin!

Mocktail: Ginger lemondade

A hit of ginger gives this lemonade a touch of heat - a good recipe to hang onto, it can be enjoyed both chilled and warm.

Cocktail: Elderflower gin fizz

Elderflower is a classic summer flavour, and one that is complemented well by gin. This refreshing mixture includes apple and lime juice, and is garnished with a cool slice of cucumber.

Cocktail: The Frosé

This drink was a hit last summer and is a great one to have on standby for heatwaves (should we have any...). It mixes frozen rosé with fruit, so is like an alcoholic slushy.

Mocktail: Pineapple & Watercress smoothie

The perfect way to kick start a summer's day - say good morning to this healthy and refreshing green smoothie. It combines watercress with ginger, sweetened with pineapple and mixed together with lime juice and coconut water.

Cocktail: Caribbean Crush

Summer carnivals call for this punch recipe - a heady mix of mango juice, cocount water, mango, ice, raspberries, rum and sugar.

Cocktail: Pimms and strawberry granita

Granita is a Sicilian invention and it's the perfect thing for when you need to cool down on a hot day. It can be enjoyed as a dessert or a drink - essentially it's a semi-frozen mix of water, sugar and any additonal flavourings. This version includes puréed strawberries and a splash of Pimm's, giving it a grown up twist.

Mocktail: Raspberry and Mint punch

The mint in this refreshing mocktail makes it a fresh, summery choice for any barbecues or parties, and it's super simple to make with only a few ingredients.

Cocktail: Cucumber and Elderflower Gin Cooler

Ice, gin, elderflower cordial and cucumber are blitzed together until smooth to create this cooling cocktail, which is great recipe for summer weddings or garden parties.

Cocktail: Turmeric and honey Margarita cocktail

Turmeric seems to be the ingredient of the moment, and it adds a lovely tint and warm colour to this Margarita recipe. Simply mix the tequila, Cointreau, turmeric, lemon juice and honey in a cocktail shaker or clean jar, shake together and serve over ice.

Cocktail: Raspberry sorbet bellini

There are lots of ways you can pimp up prosecco, cava or Champagne - this recipe calls for a measure of raspberry sorbet at the bottom of the glass and a few fresh berries to finish.

If you fancy whipping up some summery drinks this weekend, find what you need at Asda or pop into your local store.
