Here, Ed gives his top picks from our award-winning range.
The wine atlas ventoux, france
Looking for a fresh vibrant, red? Well, look no further than The Wine Atlas Ventoux from France. It’s light and fruity, with the taste of ripe summer berry flavours. Wine buffs will get a hint of vanilla but all you really need to know is that it’s deliciously easy to drink.
Cheese match: This red goes well with a rich, buttery cheese like Extra Special Camembert De Pays.
Casa luis gran reserva, spain
The Spanish tipple scooped a gold at this year’s International Wine & Spirits Competition so you know you’re in for a treat. Aged in oak barrels, this purple-hued red has layers of flavour including blackcurrants and black cherries, followed by coffee and dark chocolate.
the wine atlas minervois, france
If you want a taste of France without the travel costs, this Grenache-based red wine is just the ticket. So meet your perfect table companion – complex but mellow, it has juicy blackcurrant and plum flavours, aromas of olive and herbs, and a warm peppery finale. Ooh la la!
Cheese match: Team this smooth red with a creamy mature Brie, such as Extra Special Brie De Pays.
New zealand sauvingnon blanc
This stylish, hay-coloured and zesty wine from New Zealand’s much-loved Marlborough winemaking region has a rise-and-shine grapefruit freshness and punchy tropical fruit flavours. And it won a gold medal at this year’s International Wine Competition to boot!
Cheese match: Try this Sauvignon Blanc with a tangy goats’ cheese, such as Asda Soft Goats’ Cheese.
The wine atlas cococciola
A real find from the Abruzzo region in Central Italy, this silvery lemon white wine has loads of citrus and green apple flavours without being overpowering. It has the refreshing mineral finish and zippy acidity of a good Pinot Grigio – buonissimo!
Cheese match: This white works well with fresh, soft and milky mozzarella or Extra Special Burrata Mozzarella.
Extra special chardonnay, australia
Chardonnay is often unfairly overlooked, but this example is a lovely golden wine that’s well balanced, with peachy flavours, biscuity notes and a palate-cleansing crisp mineral finish. Another corker of a wine from Oz!
Cheese match: Team this Chardonnay with a mild goats’ cheese or a smooth, buttery Brie, such as Asda Cornish Brie.
