112 WINNING WINES AT THE DECANTER AWARDS
Last week, the Decanter Awards announced their list of the best wines around the world in 2018.
112 Asda bottles caught the judges’ attention, with 50 Asda bottles winning bronze, 17 taking silver, and our Extra Special Chablis proving to be one of the panel's favourite wines in the WORLD, clinching gold - it’s fair to say the experts were suitably impressed with our range.
On the judges’ radar
Want to sample the judges’ pick of the bunch? Try our Extra Special Chablis Domaine de la Levée for a crisp and refreshing white with melon and citrus. Perfect for evening drinks or to accompany anything from chicken to seafood, this creamy and versatile white was praised for its layers of complex flavour achieved through barrel-ageing. Serve at 8-12 degrees to help differentiate the many tasting notes.
If you fancy something fruitier, our Extra Special Chenin Blanc was highly praised by Decanter’s and IWC's judges, winning two silvers in different categories thanks to its exotic notes of mangoes and nectarines.
Or if you’re more in the mood for red wine, The Wine Atlas’ Ventoux has won four silver awards over the past two years at the awards thanks to its vibrant red berry flavours perfectly honed in the Rhône Valley’s Mediterranean climate. Pair with cured meats or roast chicken to really bring out those fresh, fruity notes.
After something with a bit more of body? La Moneda’s Premium Collection Chilean Malbec blew the judges away with its full-bodied, dark and brooding finish. Layers of tart blackberries and plums with a lingering, peppery warmth helped this bold red earn itself a highly-commended silver award.
