James Martin To Host ITV’s This Morning

Get ready to tune into ITV as their iconic breakfast show This Morning just announced the addition of a very familiar face. That's right – our very own super-chef, James Martin

James is set to join the ranks of other famous presenters, such as Amanda Holden and Gok Wan, by becoming one half of the new Friday morning team for the show's summer season. He'll be joined by Anita Rani, another TV veteran, best known for presenting BBC's Countryfile (which famously knocked X-Factor off its top spot), and of course, her dance moves in Strictly Come Dancing. The dynamic duo will be covering Fridays while regular Friday hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford move to Monday – Thursday slots while Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are on holiday.

Of course, James Martin is no stranger to television presenting. When he isn't cooking up a storm for Asda, he's known for delighting viewers on the small screen, having previously hosted BBC's Saturday Kitchen for 10 years. He also had a previous test run hosting This Morning back in April and has appeared on the show many times. Obviously the charms of the small screen couldn't keep him away, as he said of his new gig: “It’s such a privilege to be asked back to do it again, I have a great time there.”

However, a live show like This Morning presents a particular challenge, one which James knows all too well. “It can be nerve wracking at times because you’re always a little unsure about what could happen next", he said.

"I can handle the food items and talk about that no problem, but to go from such light and shade topics… it’s one of the toughest gigs in television without a shadow of a doubt and you realise what pros they are that do this job. But I’ll do my best, as that’s all I’ve done for the last twenty years!”

James Martin and Anita Rani will host their first show together this Friday July 22, and there's lots to tune in for. Not only will the pair be interviewing Brendan O’Carroll, the creator and star of Mrs Brown’s Boys, but James has also promised to introduce viewers to his vegetable patch and even rustle up two summer dishes. He also recently interviewed Hollywood stars Matt Damon and Alicia Vikander, which will be aired on 27 July.

We can't wait to see what James cooks up on the show.

In the meantime, check out what delights James has been throwing together in Asda's kitchen – from delicious home cooked dinners like chicken with parmesan, lemon, and thyme to secret family recipes such as James Martin’s granny’s sponge cake.
