Meet irem

Irem says...

'When I'm at home, I always help Mum and Dad cook food for me and my sister Mia, 15; this salmon dish, and lamb chops, are my favourites to make. I also like helping with recipes that use a whisk or a spatula - as they're fun!'

Irem's mini interview

What did you learn from cooking in the Asda Kids' Kitchen?

One useful tip I learnt from food editor Gregor was that, when I make this recipe again, it would be easier to use ginger paste rather than grating whole ginger. The whole experience has really encouraged me to keep cooking and be creative with food.

What or who got you into cooking?

When it comes to cooking, my gran has always inspired mum. She grows all of her own veg in her garden, so I often pick what she needs for her recipes and then help her put it all together in the kitchen. She makes amazing curries.

What inspires you now?

I love watching shows like Bake Off and Rick Stein with my family but I'm not sure if I want to be a chef when I grow up. I've still got a while to decide!
