Ingredients
  • 225g self-raising flour
  • 110g Asda Best for Baking Cakes Spread
  • 75g mixed dried fruit
  • 50g caster sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2tbsp semi-skimmed milk
  • 1tbsp Demerara sugar
Method
  • Preheat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4. Line a baking tray with baking paper.

  • Sieve the flour into a large bowl and, using your hands, rub in the spread until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.

  • Add the dried fruit and caster sugar and stir to combine. Gradually stir in the beaten egg.

  • Put 15 heaps of the mixture onto the baking tray, evenly spaced out – no need to flatten! Brush with the milk and sprinkle with the Demerara sugar.

  • Bake for 10-15 mins until golden brown. Leave to cool on the tray then serve as a teatime treat.
