Ingredients
  • 225g margarine or softened butter
  • 175g light brown sugar
  • 4tbsp golden syrup
  • 340g self-raising flour
  • 275g white, milk and dark chocolate, chopped into chips
  • 2-4tbsp semi-skimmed milk
Method
  • Heat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4.

  • Beat together the butter and sugar until well mixed – this is easiest with an electric hand-mixer.

  • Add in the flour, syrup, chopped chocolate and milk. Mix well.

  • Line 2-3 baking sheets with baking paper. Bake the cookies in batches if you don’t have many sheets.

  • Roll 1tbsp of the mixture into a ball, place it on the tray and squash it gently. As the cookies bake, the mixture will spread, so keep plenty of space between them.

  • Pop the cookies into the oven for 8-10 mins until golden. They will be very floppy when they come out after baking, so take care when you transfer them to a wire cooling rack.

  • Repeat until all the mixture is used.
