Homemade cranberry sauce
- 500g cranberries
- 1tbsp Cointreau (optional)
- Zest and juice 1 orange
- 100g caster sugar
- 2tbsp maple syrup
Put the cranberries, Cointreau (if using) and the orange zest and juice in a pan, then bring to a gentle simmer.
Add the caster sugar and stir until it dissolves completely. Add the maple syrup. Simmer for 4 mins or until the cranberries burst.
Transfer to a serving bowl and leave to cool completely.
TOP TIP: Cranberry sauce can end up with a skin on it by the time it reaches the table. To avoid that, let it cool in the pan, then give it a good stir before you spoon it into the serving bowl.
