  • 225g self-raising flour
  • 2 level tsp baking powder
  • 225g butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
  • 225g caster sugar
  • 4 large free-range eggs
  • 1 large orange (or 2 medium oranges), finely grated zest and juice of
  • 75g unsalted butter
  • 350g icing sugar
  • 3 level tbsp Asda Extra Special Orange Marmalade
  • Grease two 20cm shallow cake tins. Line with baking paper. Pre-heat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4.

  • Sift the self-raising flour and baking powder together. Beat the butter in a bowl until soft. Add the sugar, eggs, flour and most of the zest. Beat until creamy.

  • Spoon into the cake tins. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 25-30 minutes. Leave in the tins to cool for 10 minutes, then turn out on to a wire rack.

  • Beat the unsalted butter with 150g icing sugar until fluffy. Add the marmalade, spread on one cake, then sandwich with the other cake.

  • Mix the remaining icing sugar with enough of the orange juice to make an icing to drizzle over the cake and sprinkle with zest.
