Tomato sauce with penne
- 2 tbsp sunflower oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 x 390g cartons Chosen by you Italian Chopped Tomatoes
- 1 level tbsp mixed dried herbs (or oregano)
- 5 tbsp tomato ketchup
- Cooked pasta, to serve
- Grated cheese, to serve
- 6 fresh basil leaves, torn, to garnish
Heat the oil in a pan and cook the onion on a low heat for 5 minutes, until soft. Add the garlic and cook for a further minute.
Stir in the tomatoes, herbs and ketchup. Season with ground black pepper.
Simmer, uncovered, for 15 - 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve with cooked pasta and grated cheese, if using. Garnish with basil, if liked.
