Ingredients
  • 500g Asda Ready to Roll Shortcrust Pastry
  • Plain flour, for rolling out
  • 400g golden syrup
  • 225g fresh white breadcrumbs
  • 1 small unwaxed lemon, grated zest of
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Custard, to serve
Method
  • Pre-heat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas 6. Roll out the shortcrust pastry on a lightly floured surface and use it to line a 23cm flan tin.

  • Mix in the golden syrup with the breadcrumbs, lemon zest and juice until evenly mixed. Put in the flan case and level the top.

  • Cut the remaining pastry into strips and make a lattice on top. Seat the strips to the edges of the pastry case, dampening them with water and then pressing together lightly.

  • Bake for 10 minutes, then reduce the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4 and cook for another 30 minutes.

  • Serve with custard.
