Revealed! 7 Clever Hacks For Crease-Free Clothes

There is a very rare breed of superhuman who loves to iron. But if you’re like the rest of us and find getting wrinkles out of your clothing a pesky household chore, life is about to get a lot easier.
We’ve put together our favourite hacks so you can have crease-free clothes without even going near an iron, so you can bin it and your space-eating ironing board for good!

Bin your old cumbersome iron and your space-eating board for good!

The Dryer and Ice Thaw

Along with your dry but creased garments, toss a handful of ice cubes into your tumble dryer and turn it on low for 15 minutes. Don’t have ice cubes in the freezer? Dampen and toss in a single sock instead with your load. Voilà, beautiful crisp shirts! Don’t forget to hang them up at once.

Estimated hack time: 20 minutes

The Flat Iron Straightener

Did you know that long before the hair straightener was invented, women of the ‘60s used household irons to achieve shiny and sleek locks? How’s this for continuation, use your hair straightening iron for getting small creases out of collars, hems, cuffs, as well as getting around shirt buttons. Just make sure you’ve cleaned your iron’s plates first, you don’t want any hairstyling products transferring onto your clothes.
Estimated hack time: 5 – 10 minutes

The Shower Steam

Frequent flyers and even celebrities have admitted to using this time-saving trick for fabrics even as fine as silk. Hang your clothes on a hanger in the bathroom while you take a hot shower and let the steam do all the hard work for you. It’ll take a good 10 to 15 minutes for folds to come undone, so why not give your hair a wash, too!
Estimated hack time: 17 minutes

The Blow-Dry Blast

Whether you’re staying at a hotel or in the comfort of your own home, all you need is a splash of water and a hair dryer for this quick spot fix. Remember to hold your blow-dryer five centimetres away from the crumpled spot to avoid overheating the fabric and accidentally causing any nasty burns.
Estimated hack time: 5 – 15 minutes

The Roll and Crush

Do you roll instead of fold your clothes when packing for a getaway so you have crease-free clothing when you reach your destination? Use the same logic here, but stick your clothing under a mattress to speed up the wait time. Easy!
Estimated hack time: 1 hour

The Water Spritz

If you have a small but noticeable crumple, but are stuck without any gadgets or tools, this hack will be your saviour. A little water can go a long way, so hang up your item and lightly mist with water before using your hands to delicately stretch out and press down the creases. If you’re in a rush, spray one-part white vinegar to three-parts water onto your garment before putting it on to air dry. Now, go about whatever you need to do and you’ll be raking in the compliments in no time!
Estimated hack time: 20 minutes – 1 hour

The Fold/Hang Fix

Just as your mum told you when you were younger, if you do it the first time then you won’t have to do it again. As soon as your washing machine or dryer goes off, don’t let your clothes sit there but smooth out the creases then delicately lay them out to dry or hang/fold them properly. Ta-da! Minimal creases.
Estimated hack time: 10 minutes
