That's why we've rounded up eight clever ideas that can all be done in a weekend to upgrade the rooms in your house with style.

Doing a home makeover doesn't have to involve knocking down walls or totally overhauling your living space. There are plenty of small changes that you can make that will have a big impact on your home. Simple things like getting organised, adding some pops of colour and changing the lighting can really make a difference and give a room a totally new feel.

Are you ready to fall back in love with your home? Here are 8 mini revamps that will transform your living space.

Cheer up your living room with new throws and cushions

Sometimes all you need to really perk up a tired sofa are a few bright throws and eye-catching cushions. Now that the nights are drawing in, having a cosy area in the living room or bedroom where you can snuggle up with some hot chocolate and a book is essential. Mix and match different colours and textures to make the space feel homely and stylish.

Clear clutter

If you're feeling fed up with a particular area of your home, ask yourself if what you're really tired of is the mess. When a space is cluttered, it can really affect your mood and tends to lead to even more clutter in the surrounding area. There's no point in having a beautiful chair or a lovely table if it's just covered in clothes and papers all the time. Try a few key organisational hacks to rid yourself of the chaos like simple tips to revamp your storage space and 5 ways to clear the clutter you've been hoarding

Change the lighting

It's easily overlooked but lighting can have a serious impact on a living space. Think beyond functionality and consider adding different types of lighting to create a warm atmosphere in your living room or bedroom. Whether you opt for a dramatic light fixture or an interesting table lamp that becomes a talking point, or simply change your bulbs to give off a softer glow, don't underestimate the power of good lighting to revamp a space.

Add an unexpected pattern

It's lovely when things match, but if everything is a little too co-ordinated then it can make your carefully selected furniture and accessories blend into one. Make your individual pieces pop with an unexpected pattern or a splash of colour. This can easily be achieved with cushions and throws, but don't stop there. Why not dress up the inside of a cabinet or drawer with a funky pattern? Or add some pretty tiles to the bathroom and a striking backsplash in the kitchen? If you're not sure about how a wacky pattern might fit into your space, a fun rug is an easy way to test out the look.

Quirky knobs and handles

Get a handle on your space - literally! It's a minor detail but knobs and handles on doors and cupboards can really tie a room together, while letting you show off your personality. And doorknobs for bathrooms and commonly-used spaces have the added bonus that almost all your guests will notice them at some point and appreciate your interior design flair. There are plenty of chic knobs and handles to choose from - do you want something with a vintage vibe, something bright and funky, or handes that look sleek and modern? Have fun with it!

Utilise your walls

Vertical surfaces are the perfect place to get creative. Hang photos and art work that you love or let the kids go wild with brilliant washi tape to personalise their rooms. But walls aren't just for picture frames - you can create a vertical mini garden, make extra storage space or even erect a faux mantelpiece. Beautify your bathroom

Installing a free-standing tub (like the one above) isn't exactly a simple change but you can still add some luxurious touches to your bathroom without breaking the bank - or any walls! First, banish any clutter (boring, we know!). But by putting all those toiletries away where you can't see them, you'll be one step closer to creating a spa-like haven. A matching set of bathroom accessories can really tie the room together, plus draw the eye away from any dodgy tiles or awkward loo supplies. Stock up on a few lovely candles and fragrant soaps, and display these in pretty holders and jars. Easy!

Be bold with colour

There's nothing lick a fresh lick of paint to really perk up a space. But there's no need to makeover the entire house - a painted accent wall is a fabulous way to upgrade a space. Alternatively, consider adding just a splash of colour to revamp tired furniture, like painting the legs of an old chair or a picture frame. Don't want to paint? Try adding bright sticky back plastic to your kitchen cabinets!
