Pantone has named its colour of 2017 so start painting your walls

If you wanted to give your decor a little refresh for 2017 and were wondering what colour to re-do the lounge in, then you're in luck - Pantone, the global authority on all things shady, has just unveiled its Colour of the Year for 2017.

That colour is - drum roll please - Greenery.

Greenery is described as "a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring, when nature's greens revive, restore, and renew."

It's all about regeneration and rejuvenation, which is perfect because that's exactly what we all need after a tumultuous 2016.

The Pantone Colour of the Year for 2016, incidentally, was a combination of a rose tone and a cooler tranquil blue, called Rose Quartz and Serenity, meant to symbolise a sense of order and peace. Let's hope they have more luck this year.

Here's a soothing video of someone hand-mixing a pot of Greenery.

Pantone predicts that Greenery will be big in fashion in 2017 after it was seen across the Spring/Summer 2017 catwalks.

It featured prominently in the collections of designers like Kenzo, Michael Kors and Zac Posen.

It can also be deployed as a bold, confident burst of colour on eyelids and nails.

And it's ideal for creating the illusion of outdoors in your home.

"Adding Greenery through living walls, terrariums, botanically-themed wallpaper, paint, accent furniture and decor provides respite and breathing space," say the experts at Pantone.

Well, we've already got our eye on this George palm leaf bedding for a start.

Here's to a rejuvenating 2017!
