Step away from the expensive face cream ladies. A recent revelation by our favourite Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley, revealed that an effective anti-ageing moisturiser can be picked up at your nearest Asda store - and give you change from a fiver! In a recent interview, the actress and presenter declared her love for the iconic British beauty product, Astral cream.
While Lumley’s alter ego, Patsy Stone, has a penchant for life's luxuries, Joanna readily admitted to the Sunday Times Style magazine that she swears by the well-known brand and has used it for over 40 years. She said: 'It comes in a little blue pot, cheap as chips – adore! It has never been tested on animals, and is about the only thing I've never developed an allergy to.' Praise indeed!
And considering how good Joanna looks at 70 years old, we think there may be something to it.

So should you give it a go? You might recognise Astral’s little blue pots from your mum or granny's dressing table as it's been a popular choice in beauty routines for 60 years. The main part of the cream’s appeal is that the recipe hasn’t changed in all that time, which means it's not laden with many of today's high-tech ingredients.
And while it doesn't include any of the ‘miracle’ anti-ageing ingredients in many of the beauty counter creams we know today, it does have two key ingredients - glycerin and lanolin - which act as a barrier between your skin and the outside world, locking in moisture and keeping skin hydrated.
As if that wasn’t enough to convince you, Joanna Lumley isn’t the only star to tout the little blue pot’s merits: Actress Kate Beckinsale and TV’s Amanda Holden both admit to being devotees. With multiple fans like this, we can’t help but think it might be worth giving it a go!
Whether it’s a miracle cream or not, there’s only one way to know for sure. Next time you're in Asda, why not pick up a pot? Or you can put Astral Cream in your cart at Asda online now. Of course, don't forget to let us know how it goes by using #goodliving on social media.
