Avocado face masks are a big trend right now so it's worth keeping them in your weekly shop, even if they are currently being eclipsed in the foodie world by superfood newcomers such as seaweed.

Avocados are high in unsaturated fat and rich in fibre, potassium and B vitamins - now that's super!

And with celebs like Victoria Beckham revealing they are avocado face mask devotees, it's great news for us mere mortals who want A-list skin without the heafty pricetag, as you can make an avocado face mask yourself at home.

So why not give it a go? It's easy – all you have to do is take half an avocado and a teaspoon of raw honey, and mash them together to make a paste. Leave on your skin for 10 minutes and voilà: dry skin is soothed, nourished and cleansed. Make your avocado go even further and transform your mask into a scrub by adding 1tbsp of brown sugar and 1tbsp of olive oil.

Asda's avocados are available all year round. You'll find them in two categories – either 'Ripe & Ready', for eating now, or 'Nearly Ripe', which you can ripen yourself at home in a couple of days.

Tip: If you buy a ‘Nearly ripe’ and suddenly need it in a hurry, just pop it in a brown paper bag with a banana and let a natural gas called ethylene magically ripen the avocado!
