DIY beauty remedies and homemade natural recipes have really taken off over the past few years, with a long list of celebrities now getting involved too.

“I wash my face with olive oil. I swear my skin is so much clearer because of it”

From spot and acne treatments, to cleansers and masks for healthier skin and hair, whipping up your own potions can be lots of fun.

It could also prove to be an incredibly affordable alternative too, as lots of the ingredients you’ll need can be found in the kitchen cupboard.

Supermodel and reality TV star Kendall Jenner, for example, loves mixing up an acne treatment made from just lemon juice and egg whites, while actress Chloe Moretz recently revealed that she likes to take her makeup off with good old olive oil.

Intrigued? Here are some of the best DIY natural beauty remedies loved by A-listers.

Kendall Jenner’s Spot Treatment

If you suffer from acne or spot prone skin, try Kendall’s two natural go-to recipes. The mask; Mix one well-beaten egg white with the juice from half a lemon, then leave on your skin for up to 30 minutes.

The spot buster; Mix together ½ teaspoon of lemon juice, ½ teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of honey, then apply directly to the spot.

Chloe Moretz’s Oil Cleanser

Having suffered from cystic acne as a teenager, actress Chloe is now strict with her skin regime. But for cleansing her face, she likes to use nothing but simple olive oil and water.

“I wash my face with olive oil. I swear my skin is so much clearer because of it,” she recently told Allure.com.

Lupita Nyong’o’s Double Oil Cleanse

Like Chloe Moretz, actress Lupita Nyong’o prefers to use natural oils on her skin when cleansing. Rather than olive oil, however, Lupita uses her own blend of two fruit oils.

“I love using natural oils,” she told Glamour. “I use avocado oil and Hawaiian kukui oil on my face. I like to keep things natural, simple, and straightforward.”

Scarlett Johansson’s Lemon Toner

To revive her skin and soothe any redness, actress Scarlett likes to use a super natural toner—lemon juice. “If my skin is dull or I have red spots before a big event, I sweep raw lemon over it, to make it brighter,” she told Marie Claire.

“It stings a bit, but it's not at all harming—it's my favorite thing. I also add lemon to drinking water.”

Emma Stone’s Grape Moisturiser

Actress Emma Stone revealed that to keep her incredibly sensitive skin feeling calm, soft and smooth, she uses a natural grapeseed oil rather than traditional moisturisers.

“I just use natural grapeseed oil from the grocery store on my face as moisturiser,” she explained in an interview. “I pat it on, and then I’ll use it throughout the day and at night.”

Cate Blanchett’s Grapefruit Scrub

Another lover of natural oils, Cate Blanchett revealed that she likes to mix olive or macadamia oil with grapefruit and sea salt, to make her own body scrub.

“Olive and macadamia oils are really good for your complexion,” she told InStyle. “Put one of them on in the shower and they make your skin zing. I incorporate them into a homemade scrub with grapefruit juice and sea salt—a beauty trick taught to me by a friend of mine.”
