Autumn is coming. So who better to keep you up to date with the latest new-season fashion than Dan Choppen, fashion assistant at Esquire.
From autumnal shades to double denim, Dan has selected his George AW19 menswear picks...
1. Autumnal shades
‘Shades of deep purple and dusty yellows were classic autumnal hues featured in the AW19 fashion show colour palettes. Both work brilliantly worn with indigo jeans and minimalist trainers for a simple, clean look.’
2. Statement scarves
‘The accessory of the season is the big scarf – and anything goes! Think long, heavy knits or lighter lambswool with checks. Go for autumnal shades and you’re all set to wrap and roll…’
3. High necks
‘A timeless classic, high necks come with a shiny update this season…zips! This style will look great popping out from under a tailored jacket, Oxford-style shirt or oversized coat for a modern twist on smart dressing.’
4. Technical jacket
‘The padded coat has had a rebrand! Styled in a more sophisticated way, it’s the must-have jacket this season. To wear it well, my tip is to keep it cosy with a chunky high neck or casual over a T-shirt.’
5. Heavy boots
‘Heavy-duty boots are my easy win for any autumn wardrobe. Team with jeans and a checked shirt for a rustic feel, or take influence from the catwalks and wear with cropped trousers and a blazer.’
6. Double denim
My personal favourite – yes, double denim is now totally OK! Just make sure you keep it simple with blue denim, a white T-shirt and white sneakers, and choose straight-leg fitted jeans. Then team it up with that new chunky scarf. Perfect.’
