6 biggest trends for Spring 2017 spotted at London Fashion Week

We know Christmas is on its way and that now’s the time to wrap up in cosy sweaters and lots of clever layers. But if you’ve already got one eye on the season ahead, we’re here to help.

It might be a little early to wear these looks, but we can certainly start planning.

London Fashion Week just swept through the Capital, bringing all of next spring’s brightest, prettiest and most colourful trends with it.

It might be a little early to wear these looks, but we can certainly start planning.

From romantic florals to girlish gingham and silky metallics, here are the key trends to look out for, and a heads up on the investment pieces to hang on to.

Gingham Prints

Conjuring hopes of sunny days spent picnicking in lush green meadows, the gingham trend decked dresses and separates alike, coming in classic red on white plus monochromatic black and white.

Liquid Metal

Think slinky shapes and soft, silky fabrics doused in metallic shades from rich copper to steely silver, and you’re on the right track for the liquid metal trend.

Romantic Florals

Florals for spring, of course, but for Spring 2017 flowery prints are blossoming over super light and sheer fabrics, for a floaty and super feminine effect.

Vertical Stripes

More flattering than their horizontal counterpart, vertical stripes are here to challenge the classic Breton. Wear them on trousers to give the illusion of long legs, or enjoy the slimming effect they have on dresses, tunics and tops.

Pink Bubblegum

It seems designers just aren’t ready to let go of pretty pink, as it returns for yet another season as a key colour. Got for bright bubblegum pinks and team it with prints if you’re feeling bold.

Statement Sleeves

Hate baring your arms? You’re in luck next season - statement sleeves are huge news. From billowing fabrics to sleeves with added flounce, there’s nothing wrong with covering up in these.
