Headbands are back! How To Wear The Kate Middleton Approved Look

You probably haven’t sported a headband since you were little but get ready because they are officially back. Seen on the Duchess of Cambridge recently, today’s headbands are as practical as they are stylish. But the key to pulling off this trend (à la Kate Middleton), is learning how to wear a headband in a chic, grown-up manner. Get inspired to shake up your hair style with our tips and pretty finds.

Earlier this month, while attending the International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, the Duchess sported a stylish light blue dress, navy blazer, nude pumps and… a leopard print headband. And didn’t she look lovely! Want to hop on the band (sorry!) wagon? Discover how to wear a headband like Kate below.

How to wear a headband

We predict that this hair look will be another example of the 'Kate effect' (where the masses follow the Duchess' style and wardrobe choices), so learn how to wear a headband now before everyone starts copying the look! Forget about those bright colours and velvety fabrics from your childhood and the 80s. This time round, headbands are all about chic prints and metallic colours.

Of course if you'd like to ease yourself back into this trend, it's easy to do. Similar to when Kate recently sported a chocolate brown hairnet that perfectly matched her hair, you could always opt for a natural colour headband if you want a more subtle effect. Otherwise, make a statement with your band with something fun, like this flower headband, £4, or make like Kate and opt for an animal print one. For a more relaxed and bohemian look, tie a bandana around your hair and team with denim cutoffs and a peasant blouse. Keeping hair away from your face has never been easier!

Make like the Duchess of Cambridge and start sporting a chic headband - find yours in Asda's health and beauty section.
