This week is London Fashion Week, and fashionistas far and wide have taken to the street style capital of the world to showcase their highly-anticipated designs. And it's been anything but understated.
Here are our favourite trends from LFW and how to get the look with George.
1. Flower Power
We know the floral print was everywhere last year; on dresses, tops and even shoes. So what’s the update? It’s all about dark miniature floral prints this season. Think small romantic, brooding floral prints rather then large, light and bouncy flowers as seen on this embroidered skirt. Not sure what the difference is? Simone Rocha will give us a hint.
Toughen up the look with biker boots or trainers to wear with your George skirt for a cool-girl-twist on the trend.
2. SPOT THE DIFFERENCE
We’ve all got a spotty shirt in our wardrobes, somewhere - maybe right at the back. Well, it’s time to pull it out or better yet, buy the dress version at George! The queen of prints, Mary Katrantzou has had a spot-and-dot revival.
Any size will do, just make sure the spots are all over your chosen piece so they can’t be missed.
3. CHECK IT OUT
If you’ve missed the check trend that’s swept the nation then you’d better have a good excuse! There’s still time to own the trend, though.
To get the heritage look with a twist, wear your plaid printed skirt with a white tee and ankle boots to nail the look. You could even take the look one step further and introduce some print blocking with a checked coat. Wear the trend your way!
Wearing a head-to-toe metallic look might be a stretch too far, but you can dabble in the trend with footwear. Boots, flat pointies or sandals – whichever tribe you belong to, be sure to keep the texture shiny. Topshop Unique have the right idea!
Bows made their debut this fashion week too, so why not add a bow to complete the look. These George flats have nailed two trends in one, double whammy!
5. Sporty Spice
If you didn't know already, sportswear is no longer confined to the gym. Nowadays it's trendy to be seen in your oversized hoodie, sporty trousers and white trainers paired with everything. The trend is called sportsluxe and we want in. So ramp it up and layer it with a biker, coat or shearling aviator jacket. Peter Pilotto’s got the right idea and opted for a pastel two-piece set.
We’re happy to rewind the clocks to the 90s and unleash our inner Sporty Spice again with this sweatshirt hoodie dress. Zig-a-zig-ah!
