5 ways to add an exotic touch of the Orient to your winter wardrobe

The fashion world has long been in thrall to exotic prints from the East.

Autumn/Winter 2016 is no different, with designers from Gucci, to Prada, to Dolce & Gabbana, all featuring oriental prints and influences heavily in their collections for this season.

The opulent colour palette of reds, golds and blacks particularly lends itself to the darker, winter months and, if you're looking to add a little drama to your party outfit, it's the perfect trend to take you from day to night.

Enter George's Shanghai Nights collection, which features all you need to add an oriental flourish to your winter wardrobe.

Here's how to wear the exotic prints and styles this season and all the pieces you can snap up in store now.

1. The bomber jacket

Bomber jackets are showing no signs of waning in popularity anytime soon, but for winter, opt for darker base colours with embroidery in rich reds, greens, pinks and golds.

This George sateen bomber features floral embroidery design detail and is inspired by the delicate patterns of Japanese kimono. Pair it with jeans and trainers for a casual day look and with black trousers and heels for evening.

2. The printed shirt

The simplest way to wear this trend for daytime is with a statement printed shirt, which can either be tucked into jeans on the weekend, or layered under a suit to liven up your work wardrobe.

The floral detail picked out in autumnal golds and russets on this printed George shirt gives a subtle nod to the Orient.

3. The statement jewels

The AW16 catwalks were awash with embellished eveningwear. It's all about showing off your jewels this party season!

This George tiered-front top - available in red or black - comes with a jewelled black and gold pendant necklace, so all the hard work's pretty much done for you. All you have to do is slip it on with an on-trend pleated midi-skirt, or your skinny jeans, and prepare to sparkle.

4. The floral dress

This summer favourite is refashioned in a darker, more vampy colour palette of blacks and golds for AW16. For cold winter days, wear it under a tailored coat with black tights and ankle boots.

George's floral printed tea dress combines the opulent florals and colours of the East with a romantic, feminine sihouette and will take you straight from desk to drinks.

5. The cold-shoulder top

Fashion is currently obsessed with giving people the cold shoulder. Literally. The shoulder is the new erogenous zone so get yours out this party season. Wear a cold-shoulder top with skinny black jeans or an leather-look A-line mini for evening, or layered under a chunky knit cardigan with boyfriend jeans for daytime.

The warm hues of this George top, inspired by the colours of the East, will brighten even the darkest winter nights.

Is it just us, or is it getting hot in here?
