5 runway trends that you need to know about for spring/summer

Gingham, shades of pink and metallic are just some of the trends that have been spotted on the very trendy spring/summer catwalks.

Models were also seen covered in embellished dresses, wearing sequined everything and sporting stripes.

From Paris to Milan, London to New York - pastel pinks, feathers and trench coats were a huge hit.

Models were also seen covered in embellished dresses, wearing sequined everything and sporting stripes.

So, this season, make sure you stay ahead of the fashion-pack and ensure your wardrobe is spring and summer ready.

Say goodbye to your winter wares, your puffa jackets and warm boots and say hello to this season's most fashionable trends

Pretty in pink

Pretty pinks were all the rage at No.21's Milan show, with models wearing floral prints and oversized jackets. It’s the one colour that we’ve been spotting everywhere at the moment, and thankfully, it’s a colour which seems to suit most skin tones.

Pretty pastel pink jumpers would look great with some skinny jeans, or you could add a touch of glamour to your work outfit with a pink pastel bag. Or try throwing a pastel pink jacket (pictured below) over an outfit to give it a touch of spring.

Steal the spotlight in metallic

Metallics and shimmery fabrics were big at Paris Fashion Week with clothing brand Kenzo taking the lead.

To nail the trend, try pairing a metallic skirt (pictured below) with a black jumper, throw a touch of sparkle to any outfit with a gold or silver bag and jazz up your ordinary workwear with some cute silver shoes (pictured below).

Go mad for stripes

Stripes were all the rage on the catwalks as designers worldwide, including Valentino, Banana Republic and Zimmermann, dressed their models head to toe in the trend.

So this season, make sure you keep ahead of the fashion pack with some stripes. You could wear a striped shirt or top with some jeans and dress your look up with some heels. Or why not go for a tunic which you could pair with some leggings in the colder months and then go bare-legged in summer.

Fill your wardrobe with khaki

It looks like every designer went crazy over the utilitarian trend with khaki shirts, tops, dresses and skirts. The trend works well for the laid back daytime look and is an easy way to look effortlessly cool. Wear an embroidered khaki dress (which can be dressed up and down) and will look great in spring and summer.

Go crazy for gingham

This cute, retro fabric got a makeover at House of Holland's 10th-anniversary show with ruffle dresses, bell-bottomed trousers and dainty off-the-shoulder tops all over the catwalk.

The printed fabric makes for a strong office look, it looks great with a pair of jeans and it can help to add a touch of playfulness to any outfit. Or try our gingham dress with bell sleeves (pictured below), a dropped hem and lots of ruffles!
